"THE GREAT GATSBY-DIRECTED BY BAZ LUHRMANN

Watch: 'The Great Gatsby' trailer

"After the closely watched casting, the first trailer for Baz Luhrmann's take on "The Great Gatsby" has arrived - and 1920s New York has never looked so good.
With Jay-Z and Kanye's "No Church in the Wild" plus Jack White serving as the soundtrack, we see Tobey Maguire as Nick Carraway, Carey Mulligan as Daisy Buchanan, and Leonardo DiCaprio starring as the man himself, Jay Gatsby..."

I loved  "MOULIN ROUGE" , directed by Baz Luhrmann. Some of my friends swear by "STRICTLY BALLROOM" & my former students loved his version of the updated "ROMEO & JULIET"; however, the 1974 version left true F. Scott Fitzgerald fans underwhelmed. It's tricky to take brilliant writers & update their work in an attempt to hook in the newer generation. This one may work (using , once again Leo DeCaprio with Tobey Maguire & the wonderful Carey Mulligan).
At the very least it will have a new generation interested in reading the classic book. Sales of it certainly shot up after the Redford/Farrow movie. Best of all we were introduced to the fantastic Karen Black back in 1974.

This opens in December of this year. Check out the trailer & judge for yourself.
