SINCE I AM BEYOND PUNCTUAL, I ARRIVED IN LINE AT 7:30 AM. MY LETTER HAD ASKED WE BE THERE BY 9--LOL. I WAS THE 8TH PERSON IN LINE.

AFTER WAITING 15 YRS , I WANTED TO MAKE SURE I HAD GREAT SEATS & I DID : FRONT ROW BY BARABRA WALTER'S CHAIR -4TH CHAIR IN--AWESOME! YOU CAN SEE ME IN YESTERDAY'S SHOW (JULY 9, 2013) IN LONG SHOTS. I'M WEARING A GRAY SUIT & A RED SHIRT.

AS YOU CAN IMAGINE THE WAIT WAS EXTREMELY LONG-REALLY LONG!

I DIDN'T THINK THEY COULD REDEEM THEMSELVES BUT THEY DID. THE ENTIRE CHECK-IN STAFF WAS GREAT--ESP. THE AUDIENCE COORDINATORS. 

ONCE INSIDE THE TEMP WAS COLD IN THE STUDIO-PERFECT! IT WAS A HOT DAY OUTSIDE.
THEY GREETED US WITH CRANBERRY DRINKS & SWEET POTATO CHIPS.
THE MOOD WAS JUBILANT --EVERYONE WAS SMILING & EXCITED. THE STUDIO IS MUCH SMALLER THAN IT APPEARS ON TV ( SO WERE THE HOSTS & GUESTS--THIS I KINDA EXPECTED).

THE WARM UP GUY (TOM KELLY) WAS NOT ONLY ADORABLE--TOO BAD HE'S STRAIGHT- AND VERY FUNNY. IMMEDIATELY HE HAD US LAUGHING & DANCING.

THEN WE WENT ON AIR.

Done deal: Jenny McCarthy is joining The View.
The comedian-actress will fill one of the open slots on ABC’s popular daytime talk show this fall.
Longtime The View fans already have some sense of what she’s like on the panel. McCarthy, has made 17 previous appearances on the show, including eight as a guest co-host. For months the media has speculated that McCarthy is likely to fill a vacancy on the show.
The View saw the departure of longtime co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck last week to Fox News, while Joy Behar will leave next month. Founding co-host Barbara Walters has announced she will leave the show next summer, but will remain on the show as a producer.

Fashion icons Dolce, Gabbana convicted in Italy of tax crime

 "Fashion luminaries Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana were sentenced to prison in Italy Wednesday for failing to pay 40.4 million euros in taxes to the Italian government, their lawyer and a prosecutor said.

"This time it was not the case like the invoice for car repair," prosecutor Laura Pedio said of the crime for which the fashion duo was convicted. "This time it's serious, complicated, sophisticated tax fraud crime."

Both men were sentenced to one year and eight months in prison and, in addition to what they owe in taxes, told to pay a fine of 500,000 euros. Their lawyer, Massimo Dinoia, vowed that the defense plans to appeal the convictions as well as the related fines and sentences.

"Dolce and Gabbana will not go to jail now or ever," Dinoia said.

Four others associated with the upscale Dolce & Gabbana brand -- including Domenico's brother Alfonso Dolce and company tax consultant Luciano Patelli -- also face prison time, though Dinoia and Pedio did not know the length of all their sentences. 

While the decision was announced Wednesday morning in a Milan court, authorities did not immediately release details to the media or public..." (MORE ONLINE)

The Supreme Court's ruling that human genes cannot be patented has been met with excitement from doctors over the implications for patient health. Other experts, however, questioned whether there will be a widespread impact.

The high court's ruling threw out some patents previously held by Myriad Genetics Inc., a Salt Lake City-based company that had patented a genetic test for the BRCA gene that's associated with increased risks for breast and ovarian cancers.

"We hold that a naturally occurring DNA segment is a product of nature and not patent eligible merely because it has been isolated," said Justice Clarence Thomas, who wrote the court's unanimous decision.

The court, however, also ruled that synthetic DNA -- called cDNA -- could be patented by a company.

The full decision of Association for Molecular Pathology et al. v. Myriad Genetics,Inc., et. al can be found on the Supreme Court's website.

"Former Arkansas Governor, nutritionist and Capitol Offense frontman Mike Huckabee is speaking out against the attacks against homophobic people. He’s tired of homophobes being told that their views are, well, homophobic. And he’s tired of the homosexualist attack against heterosexuals. The very thing that many people and I know CWA was a part of this, saying, this is why the legalization of same-sex marriage is going to be a much bigger issue than just saying we let people love whoever they want to love, that’s not the issue. Huckabee is understandably distraught that he’d live to see the day when some people started to see LGBT people as equals. It is troubling. More and more people are losing their god-given right to discriminate. 

I’m not sure which commercials he’s talking about, since I haven’t seen too many featuring the gays. But Will and Grace was bad enough. Nor am I sure about the textbooks..."

“In the Curia,” Francis said, referring to Catholicism’s central bureaucracy, “there are holy people. But there is also a stream of corruption.”

“The 'gay lobby' is mentioned, and it is true, it is there,” Francis continued. “We need to see what we can do."

Hints that the Holy See contained a network of gay clergy surfaced last year in reports about a series of embarrassing leaks to Italian journalists.

The "Vatileaks" scandal factored in Pope Emeritus Benedict XIV's shocking decision to resign earlier this year, according to some church experts, as it impressed upon the 86-year-old pontiff that the modern papacy requires a vigorous and watchful presence.

Francis' enigmatic comments came during a meeting Sunday with CLAR, the Latin American and Caribbean Confederation of Religious Men and Women, who head Catholic communities of priests, sisters and monks. The Chilean website Reflection and Liberation, which focuses on liberation theology, first reported Francis’ remarks.


Gay and lesbian Catholic groups did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
The Survivors Network of Those Abused by Priests said, "structure, not sexuality, is the real issue."
"The church is a monarchy. Monarchs are unaccountable. So many monarchs are corrupt. This is true in both secular and religious institutions," SNAP said in a statement.
Other Catholics counseled caution about reading too much into the pope's remarks.
"We don't have any explanation of what 'gay lobby' means," said Rocco Palmo, a Vatican watcher who runs Whispers in the Loggia, a website on Catholic news and church politics.

Guess who's back at Fox?

(CNN) - Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will return to familiar ground.

The Fox News Channel announced Thursday that Palin will rejoin the network as a contributor, less than five months after the two parted ways.

Viewers will start seeing Palin on their screens again Monday, chairman and CEO Roger Ailes said in a statement.
He added that he had several conversations in recent weeks with Palin about the possibility of her rejoining as a contributor.

NEW YORK (AP) — "Joe Muto has dealt with losing his job, losing his reputation and losing friends. The low point for the former Fox News Channel "mole" came three weeks ago, when he needed to be escorted from a holding cell in handcuffs to use the bathroom.

The ex-producer at Fox is still dealing with his spectacular flameout of April 2012. Muto, who worked on Bill O'Reilly's prime-time show, began writing an anonymous column for the Gawker website about what it was like for a liberal to work at Fox. His bosses blew his cover and fired him within 24 hours.

Muto did get a book deal out of the experience, though, and "An Atheist in the Foxhole" (Dutton) is being released Tuesday.

He also got a criminal record. In an agreement with the Manhattan district attorney, Muto pleaded guilty May 9 to two misdemeanors — attempted unlawful duplication of computer material and attempted criminal possession of computer material. He had copied two Fox outtakes to prove to Gawker that he worked there, and the website posted them. One showed Newt Gingrich's wife primping her husband's hair before an interview. Sean Hannity and Mitt Romney chatted about horses in the other.

The videos were what enabled Fox to identify Muto as the mole; their investigators found that someone with his computer sign-on was the only one to look at them recently in the network's archive.

Muto was sentenced to 10 days of court-ordered community service and 200 hours of private service that he will fulfill by working with a literacy organization in Brooklyn.
He was fined $1,000 and ordered to give to charity the $5,000 that Gawker had paid him..."

 Thousands Rally in NYC in a Defiant and Spirited Response to Anti-Gay Murder (by "GAY MARRIAGE USA")

"An estimated crowd of more than two thousand this evening marched and rallied in New York City in response to a spate of anti-gay crimes in Manhattan in recent weeks.

The wave of anti-gay violence came to a head on Saturday May 18th with the murder of Marc Carson who was shot dead in Greenwhich Vilage. The suspect in that fatal incident has been charged with a hate crime.

Members of the LGBT community and their allies assembled outside the LGBT Center of NYC on West 13th Street.

 By the time the march began the crowd had swelled to well beyond initial
expectations.

Led by representatives of the LGBT Center, the Anti-Violence Project, relatives of Marc Cason, religious leaders, Edie Windsor (DOMA plaintiff), and elected officials, the group marched towards the scene of Carson’s death at West 8th Street and 6th Avenue.

 Participants waved signs and chanted along the march route. A large number of police were in attendance.

Inspiring and upliftying speeches were given by representatives form a range of LGBT organizations and other community groups. The aunt of Marc Arson spoke on behalf of Marc’s family and accepted the condolences offered by those in attendance. Leaders from LGBT affirming churches provided input from a religious perspective. Nick Porto and Kevin Atkins, attacked in an unsolved anti-gay assault on May 5th, also spoke.

Much to the irritation of a number of rally attendees, no elected official spoke in relation to the recent rise in anti-gay violence in the city. The event ended with a minute’s silence to honor the death of Marc Carson..."

A gay couple was attacked early Tuesday in SoHo and a man was beaten in the East Village, hours after thousands marched to protest the killing of a gay man and several other bias attacks that have shaken the community, officials said.

Mayor Bloomberg said at a news conference Tuesday that "New York City has zero tolerance for intolerance."

"We are a place that celebrates diversity ... hate crimes like these are an offense against all we stand for as a city, and we will do everything possible to stop them," Bloomberg added.

Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said the two men in the SoHo attack were walking on Broadway between Prince and Houston streets at about 5 a.m. when two men started yelling anti-gay remarks in English and Spanish. The victims, 41 and 42, are Hispanic.

The men were both punched, and one suffered an eye injury, sources said.

TODAY (MAY 22, 2013) I FIND OUT ONE MORE VIOLENT, HOMOPHOBIC BASHING IN THE EAST VILLAGE :Gornell Roman was charged Wednesday with assault and aggravated harassment after a hate crime against former Philadelphia promoter Dan Contarino.  The attack was one of two hate crimes authorities announced Tuesday following the killing of a gay man over the weekend.

"Shain Gandee (MTV)MTV's controversial reality show "Buckwild" just took a sad turn south. One of its stars, Shain Gandee, was found dead on Monday morning.

The 21-year-old's body was discovered in his Ford Bronco in Sissonville, West Virginia, around 11:30 a.m., alongside the dead bodies of his uncle, David Gandee, and a third unidentified person, according to a Kanawha County official.

Dispatchers received a 911 call around 11:30 a.m. that the missing vehicle had been found. Officers used all-terrain vehicles to access the Bronco, which was found about a mile up a dirt road, the Charleston Daily Mail reports.

The reality star and his uncle David, 48, were last seen leaving Larry's Bar in the neighborhood around 3 a.m. and claiming that they were going to go four-wheeling. The pair's family reportedly searched for them on Sunday before calling 911 to declare them missing.
The younger Gandee was still a trash collector for the city of South Charleston when "Buckwild" first began shooting. The show followed a handful of college-aged West Virginians partying – kind of like "Jersey Shore" with a gritty, Southern flair.

Needless to say, there seems to be more drama off-camera than on for its stars. Since the show's premiere in early January, star Salwa Amin has been arrested twice and sent to jail for possession and intent to distribute heroin and OxyContin, while Michael Burford was arrested for a DUI.

Sen. Joe Manchin III (D-W. Va.) reportedly sent a letter to MTV urging the network to put a stop to the show. "As a U.S. Senator, I am repulsed at this business venture, where some Americans are making money off of the poor decisions of our youth,” he said. "I cannot imagine that anyone who loves this country would feel proud profiting off of ‘Buckwild.’ Instead of showcasing the beauty of our people and our state, you preyed on young people, coaxed them into displaying shameful behavior — and now you are profiting from it. That is just wrong."

Still, the show has been renewed for a second season. The show's executive producer, John Stevens, once told Entertainment Weekly that it was Gandee – and the fact that he was a trash collector and had no cell phone – who made him think the show could be interesting..."

 "The proprietress of a popular neighborhood catering company hit workers and called them "dirty Mexicans" and "whores" — and reprimanded these employees when her boyfriend exposed himself to them, a recently filed lawsuit claims.

Maria A. Armendariz, who owns and operates Lorenzo & Maria's Kitchen at 1418 Third Ave., not only abused her workers with racial and sexual epitets, but also failed to pay now ex-employees Enriqueta Luna and Inelia Gabriela Ortega wage and overtime, the civil complaint states.

According to the March 8 court filings in U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York and telephone interviews with DNAinfo.com New York, trouble started for these women almost as soon as they took jobs with Armendariz.

Luna, whose tenure at the Kitchen lasted 12 years, said she worked for approximately 14 hours per day, six days per week from the get-go, never receiving overtime, the filings state.

Meanwhile, Armendariz and Nicodemus Pedraza — a co-defendant described as Armendariz' boyfriend in the filings — racially and sexually harassed Luna.

"She told me everyday that I was a 'Mexican whore. She told me I was a prostitute. She told me I was an 'a-- -faced Mexican,' and that I came to the U.S. to rob Americans' money," Luna, 48, said in Spanish.

"I never robbed anyone of anything. I didn't come here to rob anyone. It offended me a lot."
The complaint papers also claim that Armendariz, "who is light-skinned and is from Uruguay, would regularly call Luna a 'dirty Mexican'" and "also yelled at Luna and told her that she was an old, fat woman with a 'big a--' that was 'darker than a donkey.'"

On several occasions, Luna added, Pedraza "lowered his pants and showed me his [penis.]"...

I had the pleasure to meet her at Gotham on Thursday Sept 16th.--she couldn't be sweeter!

I'm not sure how I feel about this news. I still like "American Idol" (though less so than before). I still like Lopez & Tyler though I think what they amass in charm & likability they lack in constructive criticism-especially Steven Tyler.

I hated Simon Cowell's brash critiques on these poor youngsters--I often times agreed w./ his assessment but hated his delivery. He was pompous & mean; however Tyler was too predictably kind ( I would get the feeling he zoned out & just repeated the same rhetoric many times).

 Jennifer Lopez was better at giving specific areas for the contestants to work on so maybe she was a good maternal buffer for a Tyler replacement; alas, it won't be.

Actually, last season Randy Jackson came off as the "mean" one--go figure...

The show needs a straight shooter w/ experience in the music business. They use Jimmy Iovine as a mentor, why not bring him to the judges table?

CBS Sunday Morning, shows how out-of-school factors impact a particular population: refugee families. The story is about Luma Muflah, who started soccer league for refugee children living in Clarkston, Georgia, calling them the “Fugees.” When they started asking Luma for help with their homework, she soon realized that the children were facing a host of other non-school factors that made school a challenge. She launched the Fugees Academy, a school for refugee children, which she hopes to expand to a 19-acre comprehensive and permanent school facility, called the Fugees Village.

I have always believed that it would be extremely arrogant of us to think we're the only living creatures in the universe. Furthermore, I believe our government is privy to information we average citizens are not; after all, cover-ups are uncovered constantly. Just in our very own galaxy the possibilities are endless, never mind in the entire spectrum. I'm not a UFO freak but I'm not a nysayer either. I find it really interesting.

Actor Ernest Borgnine dead at 95...

One of those legendary character actors has died from kidney failure.

Once the viewer caught Borgnine in a late movie you knew you had bumped into an old friend. He had that special quality of vulnerability & gruff.

Winning an Oscar for "Marty" in 1955, he showed his versatility in different roles. Most people remember his energentic charcater in television's "McHales Navy" (actually it was IN the Navy that Borgnine began taking an interest in theater. He continued to bee seen on stage, screen & a lot of television-even on "E.R."

Though married 5 times I remember Tova & her skin care products as a kid & find it terribly  campy (she survives him).

'Happy Days' actors settle lawsuit with CBS

 

 Ironically, Paramount Pictures was just in the news for celebrating 100 yrs of entertainment. Now they're part of CBS settling $$$ with stars Anson Williams, Don Most, Marion Ross and Erin Moran. they just settled a $10 million lawsuit for CBS neglecting them $$$ for merchandising carrying their images throughout all these years.

 Of the cast members, Moran stands to benefit most from the settlement. She has been the subject of tabloid reports that she and her husband have been living in a trailer in Indiana since losing her home to foreclosure in California. While Most, Williams and Ross continue to act or direct, acting work dried up for Moran, who did not return a call from CNN.
