SECONDLY, SITTING IN THE  SEAT NEXT TO ME  WAS A BEAUTIFUL REDHEADED YOUNG WOMAN. TOO YOUNG TO REMEMBER MS. DALY IN "CAGNEY & LACEY" -AND DARE I SAY, EVEN A WEE TOO YOUNG FOR WANTING TO WATCH THE MATURE THEMED  TV SHOW  MS. DALY WAS IN  LAST, "JUDGING AMY".  I WAS CURIOUS TO PICK HER BRAIN. MY CURIOSITY PEAKED BECAUSE IT WAS A SEA OF WHITE , GRAY & BLUE HAIRED FOLK-THE MEDIAN AGE BEING 60.

SHE DID REMEMBER HER FROM "JUDGING AMY" BUT SHE WAS ALSO GETTING AN ACTING DEGREE FROM NEARBY RUTGERS UNIVERSITY. THIS WAS PART OF HER STUDIES. I  REASSURED HER SHE HAD CHOSEN A GREAT ACTOR TO OBSERVE SINCE DALY HAD WORKED IN EVERY MEDIUM.

I'VE NEVER BEEN SO RIGHT. HEARING TYNE DALY RECOUNT HER ACTING HISTORY WAS A MAJOR EDUCATION TO US ALL IN ATTENDANCE. SHE MADE THE OTHERWISE LACKLUSTER INTERVIEWER METAPHORICALLY DISAPPEAR--SHE HAD FULL CONTROL OF THE STAGE & KNEW HER AUDIENCE. I GET THE FEELING BEING "ON" IS PART OF HER MAKE-UP WITHOUT PRETENSE OR EGO.

DALY'S WARMTH MADE ONE FEEL LIKE SHE WAS TALKING TO US AT SOME INTIMATE DINNER PARTY AND NOT A THEATER. IT'S THIS  UNPRETENTIOUS WARMTH THAT SEEPS THROUGH ALL HER CHARACTERS-ESPECIALLY IN HER TONY AWARD WINNING PERFORMANCE AS MAMA ROSE IN "GYPSY" ( MY FAVORITE ROSE TO DATE-I SAW IT , TRANSFIXED, TWICE- I STILL PREFER THE SOUNDTRACK TO ANY OTHER).

BESIDES A TONY SHE HAS A TON OF EMMYS & OTHER ACCOLADES.

NEW DRUG FOR BREAST CANCER

 



CNN) -- A drug that presents a new way to knock out cancer cells was approved Friday to treat patients with a certain type of late-stage metastatic breast cancer.

The drug, referred to as T-DM1 during clinical research, will now be known by the brand name Kadcyla, the Food and Drug Administration said in its approval announcement. It's a new therapy for women with HER2-positive breast cancer.

Kadcyla is a combination of the targeted drug trastuzumab -- better known by the brand name Herceptin -- and a powerful chemotherapy drug called DM1. It's designed to work when Herceptin alone can no longer keep cancer in check.

DM1 is too toxic to deliver directly into a patient's bloodstream, like other chemotherapy drugs. The Herceptin part of the new drug homes in on cancer cells, sparing other healthy cells, and delivers DM1 into the cell..."

TRAGEDY AT THEATER FOR DOWN SYNDROME BOY

"On January 14, 2013, a young man with Down Syndrome went with his companion to see Zero Dark Thirty at the Regal Cinema in Frederick, MD. At the end of the movie, apparently because he wanted to see it again, he refused to get out of his seat. A Regal employee, rather than allowing him to stay and dealing with the situation later with his parents and the companion, called not one, not two, but three off duty Frederick County police officers who were working security for the theater at the time.

According to published reports, when the officers/ security guards asked him to leave, he mouthed off at them and "resisted arrest". Those of you who know my son Landon can visualize what this would look like. In response, the officers wrestled him to the ground where he asphyxiated in handcuffs. The handcuffs were removed and EMS called and according to the police news release he later died at hospital. I don't know how that reconciles with the coroner's finding of asphyxiation which I thought was pretty immediate.

The price of a ticket at the cinema is between $9 and $11. The additional cost to Regal of allowing him to watch the movie again was ZERO. But instead a beloved young man died on the floor of a movie theater in his neighborhood at the hands of people he was taught would protect him.

The police officers remain on duty and were allowed to invoke their rights as police officers not to provide statements even though they were not on duty or performing official duties at the time. They were security guards in police uniforms.

The county police are investigating and the story has received local news coverage. Please share this everywhere both to ensure justice but also to raise public awareness..."

Academy Award winner Forest Whitaker was frisked by an employee at a Manhattan deli Saturday after being accused of shoplifting, according to published reports.

Whitaker, who is in New York filming a movie, was leaving the Milano Market in Morningside Heights when a worker said he saw him steal an item from the store, TMZ first reported.

The worker stopped Whitaker and publicly searched him inside the store, TMZ said. But the employee's pat down revealed Whitaker hadn't taken anything.
   
The actor apparently then left the store baffled and angry.

NEW YORK — "A Tiffany & Co. subsidiary is suing Costco, claiming the wholesale club operator has been selling engagement rings wrongly labeled "Tiffany" rings.

The high-end jeweler filed lawsuit in U.S. District Court in New York on Thursday.
Tiffany and Company alleges trademark infringement, counterfeiting, unfair competition, injury to business reputation, false advertising and deceptive business practices. The company says the rings are not in fact Tiffany rings, nor are they in any way properly associated with Tiffany.

The retailer said that a customer alerted Tiffany in November to the sale of what was promoted on in-store signs as "Tiffany" diamond engagement rings at a Costco store in Huntington Beach, Calif.
Tiffany immediately launched an investigation and said that it learned that Costco has been selling different types of rings for many years identified as "Tiffany" rings, without the company's knowlThe jewelry retailer said that Costco led its customers to believe they were buying authentic Tiffany products at significant discounts..."

Both face maximum penalties of several years in prison; he also faces hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines and forfeitures. IT IS WITH A HEAVY HEART & TEARFUL EMOTIONS THAT I WRITE ABOUT THE DEATH OF ONE OF THE NICEST MEN IN NYC: MY FRIEND, PETER.

TO MANY, HE WAS ARPAD MIKLOS, THE SEXY, SORT AFTER STAR OF THE ADULT ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY AND MODEL EXTRAORDINAIRE .
A HUNGARIAN BORN BEAUTY WITH BRAINS, LOOKS AND MOSTLY HEART.



TO ME HE WAS ONE OF MANHATTANS TRUE HUMANITARIANS-HELPING OUT WITH MANY CHARITIES.
HE WITH A WINNING SMILE, A GOOD HEART AND A FUN SENSE OF HUMOR. A FELLOW VIRGO WHO WAS AT ONCE SHY AND YET  IRRESISTIBLE. YOU HAD TO TALK TO HIM. HIS AURA WAS OF A SPECIAL LIGHT.

ONE OF THE HIGHLIGHTS THIS LAST CHRISTMAS SEASON WAS GOOFING AROUND WITH HIM AND FRIENDS, JUST LETTING OUR HAIR DOWN & BEING SILLY.

(CNN) -- Ed Koch, the brash former New York City mayor who typically greeted constituents with a "How'm I doin'?" died Friday at the age of 88, his spokesman said.Koch died of congestive heart failure, spokesman George Arzt said. The former mayor felt very tired Thursday morning and was admitted to the intensive care unit, Artz said. Koch lost consciousness that afternoon and ultimately passed away around 2 a.m. Friday.
 

The lawyer-turned-public servant was a U.S. congressman from 1968 until he ran for mayor of the city in 1977 He served three terms until David Dinkins defeated him in a Democratic primary.

Koch told New York magazine in 1998: "I think my personality was helpful in this job. I always had a great sense of humor, though I am also pretty reserved personally. I mean, I don't go to chichi parties; never did. I don't like going to dinners other than small dinners at the homes of people. But I realized that if I was to harness the energies of the people of the city of New York and give them back their pride, I would have to become bigger than life. And I did."

 For two years starting in 1997, he was the judge on the syndicated show "The People's Court."

 Only three New York mayors were ever reelected twice -- Fiorello LaGuardia and Robert Wagner.

Koch, who never married, was often criticized by playwright, novelist and LGBT rights advocate Larry Kramer for not doing more to stop the spread of AIDS in New York."He was a closeted gay man, and he did not want in any way to be associated with this," Kramer declared to New York magazine.

Koch found discussions of his sexuality to be humorous. (hmmmm-really?)
