Sadly, one of our most popular TV game show host died from complications related to
esophageal cancer. The British actor attained some fame in "Hogan Heroes" but what propelled him to international super-stardom was his kissy-kissy, effervescent manner on the wildly popular game show "Family Feud". I know it was one of my guilty pleasures growing up-it was fun & educational at times--lots of hmmm moments. If you google top 5 "Family Feud" moments , I promise you chuckles, which I think was the host's main objective--that and maybe not contracting "mono" from kissing everyone on the mouth--YUK!
" The kissing also sparked complaints from viewers who said that Dawson
was getting a bit too familiar. He finally asked viewers to write in and
tell him whether he should discontinue the kissing. "The mail flowed
in, and it was overwhelmingly positive that he keep kissing the women,"
said Gary
Dawson...."
It was rumored he was a swell guy off camera as well.
His son reveals,"The way he was on the game show was the way he was in real life," Gary
Dawson said Sunday. "He was always rooting for people — he not only
wanted people to win, but to have a comfortable, great experience."
