NYC Gay Therapist Suicide Surprises Me

R I P--so sad NYC therapist Bob Bergeron passed, in a horrible way, on New Year's Eve, in NYC. He obviously helped so many but failed at taking his own advice. It's staggering: a 2002 survey by researchers at the University of California, found that 12 percent of urban gay and bisexual men have attempted suicide in their lifetime, a rate three times higher than the overall rate for American adult males...God bless his soul
Being an avid researcher of all things New York, it really surprised me that this is old news to many, yet ALARMINGLY new news to me!

  1. I remember when this happened. It just goes to show you that the things the world tells us we should want (looks, success) don't always guarantee happiness.

  2. Yep--the unrealistic pressures are crippling at best, deathly at worst--hopefully this can serve as a lesson to us all & the poor guy's death isn't in vain
